That quirkiness in you could soon be considered a mental disorder.

Recently proposed amendments to the 5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders could reclassify many conditions as mental illnesses.

These conditions include childhood shyness, eccentricities, bereavement and certain other unconventional behaviours.

Because the Manual is considered the bible by some in the field, experts worry that millions could be given diagnosis which could ruin their lives.

Call us crazy but we think that, while many people do suffer from undiagnosed disorders, most of us are probably better off just embracing our quirkiness.
