Hong Kong’s dodgy underground

With a Velcro checkmark so it’s easy to change answer!

Henry Tang, a candidate for Hong Kong’s next Chief Executive, is once again implicated in a scandal. This time, it involves an illegally constructed basement in his upscale home.

A few days ago, a tabloid printed an alleged floor plan that shows a spacious basement complete with private cinema, wine cellar and Japanese bath – constructed without approval from building authorities.

While violating building codes is bad enough when it involves the potential leader of the city, Tang made things worse with his ever-changing explanations.

Initially, he dismissed it as simply “a hole in the ground to store things”. Then he claimed to have never seen the plans. Now, he’s blaming his wife (whom he admitted having cheated on in October).

We’re sure Mr. Tang is getting tired of all the questions. So today’s t-shirt features a Velcro checkmark that makes it easy to change his answer.
