Today’s t-shirt touches on a topic that’s a bit quirky for most, but revered by scientists the world over. March 14 is Pi Day – a day to celebrate the mathematical constant pi.

Pi (roughly equivalent to 3.14) is important because it’s used to calculate all kinds of things – from the area of circles to the trajectory for launching satellites into space.

While most of us really don’t give much thought to the day, some scientists celebrate by eating pies and walking a circle 3 and 1/7 times while singing Happy Birthday to Einstein (today is also Einstein’s birthday… a cosmic coincidence!).

So to sum things up, today’s t-shirt is a roundabout nod to the geeks whose work helps make the world a better place.
