Unbearable corruption

Vladimir Putin’s election victory on Sunday was met with anti-corruption protests, which has led to over 500 arrests by police.

Protesters and international observers claim the election was marred by irregularities in the vote count as well as ‘carousel voters’ who were shuttled from poling station to poling station to repeatedly vote for Putin – resulting a 65% win for Putin.

Although Putin dismisses the allegations, and despite analysts who estimate Putin would have won even without fraud, the protests reflect a pervasive global discontent about the powers that be.

World leaders beware: you can’t silence an idea. And the big idea now is a world free from corruption and owned by the people.
