Mirror, mirror on the wall

Recently, the press has brought to light a rash of YouTube videos of young girls posting videos asking, “Am I pretty?” Often, these girls are as young as 11 years old. You can already imagine the rash of mean-spirited responses from cyberbullies.

Although the problem of self-esteem among young girls is not new, the ubiquity of social networks has given a new outlet for them to express their anxieties. Unfortunately, it has also made their egos easier targets.

While there never has been a simple answer to this issue, we must continue to encourage kids to seek self-worth from within.

We hope today’s t-shirt can send a message to kids everywhere: look in the mirror of your heart and see that there’s beauty in us all.
