FAQ

Why tell these stories through t-shirts?

There are lots of medium for self expression these days, digital and otherwise. But we felt t-shirts is a very personal and approachable medium. Think about it; the t-shirts we choose to wear express who we are and how we think. Some wear t-shirts to express a rock band they like. Some wear tees to identify themselves as part of a group or company. Still others wear tees to express humour or anger.

It’s wearable art and a great way to carry a message.

Do you really produce and post each and every t-shirt that very same day?

Yes. Or at least that’s our aim. While we’ll go out of our way to meet our daily deadlines the way a newspaper does, it’s difficult to say what unforeseen circumstances may arise during the course of the year that might delay production by a day or so. We hope that, should this happen, it would be a rare occurrence.

How can I help you spread your message of hope?

We appreciate that, thanks. Like us on Facebook or tweet about us using the buttons next to the navigation bar and/or on every page that you like.

Why did you choose one topic over another on any given day?

While we’d love to be able to touch on every story that happens every day, it would be beyond the scope of this project. So as an artistic collective, we choose a story or event that we feel is particularly interesting that day.

Our choices are not based on any biases towards or against any particular country, field, people or affiliation. And we hope our choices do not alienate anyone. It simply comes down to an artistic choice.

Are you a t-shirt store? Are you doing this for money?

The short answer is no. A Year in T-Shirts is an artistic project that aims to make the world a better place one smile at a time.

That being said, it takes money to produce the t-shirts, set up the photography, host and maintain the site, and generally to run A Year in T-shirts. So we hope to generate revenue to keep A Year in T-shirts going, whether that is through sponsors or through donations from our viewers.

Are your t-shirts for sale?

The original t-shirts we produce are not for sale. However, because our aim is to touch people in positive ways, we understand you might want to own your own reproduction of the t-shirts. So we’re looking at the possibility of selling reproductions in the near future. No promises yet, but we’re looking into it and we’ll let you know.
